Its Been Awhile

Sometimes, we artists get so busy marketing and making art that we don't make time to do our Blogging.  That is the case with me anyway.  But I promised myself, that this is important and I will do it.

I will be demonstrating at the Woodlands Waterway Show, April 4.  The Woodlands is located just north of Houston, Texas. This event has become bigger and bigger every year.  I have developed a technique that really excites people when they see it.  I use a very large pallet knife, putting liquid acrylic on it  in three or four colors.  Then I placed it, paint side down on a canvas, and begin to and move the paint around.  It becomes wonderful in just seconds.  To continue moving the paint around would mix the colors, and make dark, or mud.  You just have to know when to stop.

I also have several workshops scheduled for this year, where I will teach this along with other techniques,  pleased click on Classes and Workshops on this website for complete information and of the workshops.  Should you be interested in attending one of my workshops the contact information is listed there.

My career as an artist seems to finally be taking off.  My paintings are garnering great praise from gallery owners and artists I respect.  I have just been accepted into a gallery in Houston.  Betz Art Gallery is owned and managed by Lori Betz.  It is located on West Gray Street in whats becoming an art district in Houston.  Lori Betz works hard for her artist, advertising in many publications both on line and in print.  She is also an accomplished artist.  She paints very large abstracts, sculpts, and does metal work.  Check out her website, Betz Art Gallery.  I am sure she has a personal website also.

I just finished a group of Desk Art Boxes.  Actually they are 5" canvases that are 2" deep.  What a challenge to work this small. I normally work 36"x36" or larger.  I call these little canvases Desk Art, because you set "set" them anywhere from your desk to book shelves.  Each one different.  I have added many different 3D items to the canvas, and I am using metallic paints.  What a dramatic effect I am making.  This weekend will be the first time I have shown them.  I am hoping for good responses.  We will see.

In the future I will be adding photos of my Desk Art canvases.  I will also be explaining my views on why texturing your supports can be so important to the finished product.  I will also guide you step by step through the process of different texturing techniques.  I love to teach, and you will probably find many teaching article's in this blog.

For now, good bye and I will see you later.  Let me know what you think about this blog, and you can sign up for email newsletters, and the RSS which will send the blog directly to you, when I add something.
